PRO-SERIES Soil Blends

PRO-SERIES Soil Blends

For those discerning lawn care aficionados who want to “take it up a notch”, Tim Wallace Soil Mix Supply now offers its PRO-SERIES line of custom soil blends.  These PRO-SERIES blends combine quality topsoil, compost and sand with the highly regarded PennMulch Seed Accelerator.

PennMulch Seed Accelerator is a pelleted seeding mulch uniquely formulated to include starter fertilizer (equivalent of 10-20-5) to support quick grass seed germination to establish new or repaired turf. PennMulch stores moisture – which is critical to successful germination, with the HydrobondTM  tackifier.  It holds seed in place for consistent establishment. Unlike straw, PennMulch contains no weed seeds and breaks down overtime requiring no raking.

penn mulch seed accelerator PennMulch Seed Accelerator is comprised of recycled newsprint, starter fertilizer, and Moisture Cell Technology. Adaptable to any soil type, PennMulch is ideal for establishing a thicker, healthier lawn in one convenient application. When PennMulch gets wet it expands, then dries, holding the seed in place. This will provide an almost 100% seed germination rate which results in nice thick turf. This product when combined with one of Tim Wallace Soil Mix Supply’s lawn soil blends is perfect for home owners, turf professionals, golf course superintendents, athletic field managers and landscapers.

pro-series soil blendsPro-Series Topdressing Mix

  • 50% Topsoil, 50% fine sand and 40# PennMulch per cubic yard

Regular topsoil is fine for filling in low spots with depths greater than 2-3 inches. But adding fine sand to the topsoil like the golf course turf pros do, results in a silky-smooth soil blend perfect for topdressing lawns at depths of about ½ inch. This topdressing blend spreads easily, holds it depth and contributes to overall lawn improvement.

If you’re planning on over-seeding your lawn, the PRO-SERIES Topdressing Mix with PennMulch provides the key products necessary for re-seeding an existing lawn.

Pro-Series Lawn Repair Mix

  • 50% Topsoil, 25% Purple Cow Classic Compost, 25% fine sand and 40# PennMulch per cubic yard

For the ultimate in lawn repair and renovation – spread at a depth of no more than ½ inch, go with our Pro-Series Lawn Repair Mix.

This mix starts with quality topsoil – screened, pulverized, rich black dirt at 50% per yard. To this we add 25% fine sand – (also called Mason sand) which helps soil to clump and congeal. It also supports water retention while preventing soil porosity. These characteristics favor grass root development.

purple cow organicsWhile fertilizer feeds plants, compost feeds soil. The PennMulch Seed Accelerator added to this mix (equivalent of 10-20-5) feeds the grass and helps store moisture. The 25% Purple Cow added to each yard of our PRO-SERIES LAWN REPAIR MIX boosts soil nutrition and feeds the soil. Nationally known and trusted Purple Cow Classic Compost is a proven, time-tested way to add beneficial microbes, carbon and balanced nutrients to your lawn or gardening soil. Purple Cow is weed seed and manure free making it a top choice for lawn repair and renovation.

Use this rule of thumb for calculating how many yards of either PRO-SERIES MIX you will need:

  • About 1.5 cubic yards for every 1,000 sqft of lawn (at a depth of ½”)
